Jim Carrey set for Sonic film?

Word on the street is the comedian is set to play Dr Robotnik

File this under ‘Didn’t see that one coming’ – rumour has it Jim Carrey is set for a role in the forthcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie.

The funnyman, known for his roles in The Mask, Dumb & Dumber and Bruce Almighty, is believed to be in talks with Paramount about taking on the role of Sonic’s arch nemesis, Dr Robotnik.

While unconfirmed at this stage it would definitely be a coup should the claim turn out to be true. And lets be honest, it can’t be any worse than the horrendous Super Mario Bros. movie….can it?

A staple of the 16 bit console era, Sonic has spawned several iterations, with physical sales of over 80 million games. While the Sonic The Hedgehog movie will be the blue speed demons first foray onto the big screen there have already been five TV series.
